Elf on the CHRISTmas Shelf - Days 21-24

We're almost done!  This is the last week of Turkey Activities.  Just hang on with me for a couple more ideas.

DAY 21 - MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE
So remember when a couple of days ago we made the Christmas Cookies?  They weren't just for us to eat or have fun baking.  Every year we try to go around our Neighborhood and Carol to the neighbors houses.  It's really fun and usually really cold here, but our Small Group gets together and we all go out.  After we sing, we usually hand them a small baggie of Christmas Cookies!  So, tonight, was the night that we scheduled to do this activity.  Turkey (and Buddy) announced the event with great glee!

Of course, Buddy had to quote one of my favorite lines from the movie "Elf" as well! Here are the downloadable cards for both the verse:
...and the "Elf" quote:
We've now gone caroling 3 years in a row and have heard from the neighbors that they look forward to it every year now.  It's a lot of fun to see people come to the door with smiles on their faces and know that they aren't being asked for anything, just to enjoy the Christmas Spirit and some kindness.

DAY 22 - HATS ON PICTURES
Those pesky elves need some more Grace today. During the night they found our dry erase markers and drew elf hats on all our pictures. My goodness.  The boys loved looking at every picture in our house and laughing at all the hats.

DAY 23 - TP SWING
This one is a little harder than it looks.  You need to position your elf so that just the correct counter balance happens.  Otherwise your elf will fall over and look all freaky (more than normal).  Good luck!

DAY 24 - CONTENTMENT
Today is a BIG day in our house!! M is turning 6!!! He is such a sweet little man and we are very excited to celebrate his birthday!  He had a Lego party this year, so Turkey decided to tell him Happy Birthday with a Lego sign!  This was really fun to put together. :) You can make your sign say anything you want really.  Anything with Legos will be exciting for the kiddos.

Today's lesson was about Contentment.  We just came off the Birthday Party and we are about to have Christmas, so I wanted to make sure that the boys realized that it is important to be content with what they already have.  Not to constantly be wanting more and to be upset if they didn't get the large present that they asked for or didn't ask for but wanted.

Elf on the CHRISTmas Shelf - Days 17-20

Welcome back!  We're past the halfway point in Turkey's stay with us.  Don't worry, he still has a lot more fun and verses to share with us!

DAY 17 - THANKSGIVING
Today Turkey taught us about being Thankful.  He was placed in the Nativity to remind us about the Ultimate Gift from God and how we owe all our Thanks and Praise to Him for saving us from our sins so that we can live forever in Heaven with God if we believe in Him.

This is one of my favorite verses from the Bible.  It reminds me that no matter what, God will always provide for my needs. Of course the verse doesn't say all my WANTS, no it say NEEDS. You can download the card here.

DAY 18 - KINDNESS
Turkey suggested that we bake cookies for our neighbors today!  What a GREAT idea!! Later this week we will...well, you'll just have to wait to find out. :)

Here is the downloadable card for Kindness.

DAY 19 - WRAPPED TREE
Okay, let me be completely honest...I will NEVER do this again!  Wrapping a Christmas Tree is not as easy as it looks. That being said, however, the kids LOVED it...the things I do for my children. :)  If you are going to attempt this, it is highly recommended to have 2 people to help wrap.  The issue was the fact that the tree is cone shaped and my wrapping paper is flat.  So I had to get a little creative.

That Turkey needed to have a lot of Grace for his evening activity.

DAY 20 - OBEDIENCE
Turkey and his squad found a board game to play last night!  I don't know who ended up winning, but it sure looks like they had a lot of fun.  Turkey reminded the boys that just like obeying rules in a game is important, you need to Obey Your Parents as well!

Here is the downloadable card for Obedience.

Come back soon for the rest of Turkey's nighttime fun!

Elf on the CHRISTmas Shelf - Days 14-16

DAY 14 - MOVIE NIGHT
Today, Turkey suggested that the kids watch his favorite movie!  He was armed complete with popcorn and hot chocolate ready for a fun night with the family!

Here is the downloadable card:

DAY 15 - PERSERVERENCE
Today, Turkey was working hard and persevering to catch his dinner.  Those fish can be pesky sometimes.

The fish and fishing wand came from a really cool Go Fish game by Mattel.  It's great for preschoolers and young kids.  You can also do this by putting goldfish crackers in the sink and using a makeshift pole.

Of course, the perfect verse to go with this topic is Philippians 4:13.  Download the card here.

DAY 16 - TP SNOWMAN
Do you want to build a snowman?!  To make this one, just get 3 rolls of Toilet Paper and print out this page from Coupon Geek with all the Snowman pieces.  Cut out what you need and use tape to attach them to the snowman.  It works best if there are a few friends to help build the Snowman.

You can print the card here.
